BCS (Bowl Championship Shit)

Now how many times has the BCS been referred to that way? Probably more times then they care to count. I actually don't hate the BCS as much as I used to, I think that I'm just resigned to it now. And amusingly enough, I actually don't have much of a complaint to make for this week because I'm quite giddy regarding the status of this week's BCS. Good old Hook 'Em Horns topped out the Condoms (oopps, I meant the Trojans) this week. But I actually wanted to let everyone know that I have made an official nomination for a new computer poll to be added to the BCS calculation. Of course we are all aware that the computer polls are useless and usually make any logicial sense at all, but I believe I found the next candidate to be added to the BCS.

Michael Paulson, please stand up.

Yeah, okay, he's not going to stand up because at the moment he's some where torturing some poor ninth graders with global history, and I'm sitting in a law school class room all by myself. But that's not really the point. HE some how has some free time and every year about this time he ranks all 119 NCAA teams. And though I might not always agree with everything (for example BC being ranked over ND --> even though that's a personal thing) I think that in general he has the most, fair, level headed poll that I've seen. So I think that he should be a part of the BCS polls. However I am well aware that he won't be because the BCS only takes crack heads that leave out losses to teams that are not Division I (hem, hem COLLEY MATRIX) and attempt to solve world peace, rocket science, and the avian flu in their formulas. But for anyone who's interested, I think his rankings are some of the well done, fair and level headed. And they entertain me on a weekly basis. So for this week I will share with everyone the newely elevated computer rankings for the BCS. (Pst, I hope I don't get in trouble for copyright infringement, but at least it doesn't have his formulas, it's just facts.)

Enjoy...

So it should be glaringly obvious to anyone that I am still going through withdrawal about Saturday's game, which is why it has taken so long for me to even look at my blog which so beautifully illustrated that Jesus was on our side.

However on the brighter side, that was quite possibly the best Notre Dame Game that I have ever seen, and my guess is that it will soon be shown on ESPN classic. (However I do despise it when an ESPN classic game, is one where Notre Dame ends up losing).

Now I don't want to whine, but I do have to say a couple of things about that game. First of all I LOVE CHARLIE WEISS!!!! As Mike Greeney put it, "I think I actually have a crush on him." (so that is not whininig, because I'm obviously giving him a compliment). Anyway I appreciate the fact that he called the game for what it was, yes it was a good game, yes we played well, but we lost. And a loss is still a loss. I appreciate that, because I do believe that in the end, if your game is played well and you lose, you're not going to make a BCS bowl. As those stupid computer rankings prove, it doesn't matter that we played well, we lost and that cost us. But even though we lost, and he pointed that out he still made a point to congratulate our players, and talk to our players and make them see that even he made mistakes (As he admitted about the game). Charlie Weiss is the best coach EVER. I'm totally on the Charlie Weiss bandwagon (of course I've been on that since last January).

Secondly I would like to point out that I was very, very proud of our team, our band, and our fans this weekend. We had one of the most historic wins in history taken away from us in the last seven seconds of the game. Yet our fans still acted in a respectful manner and still stayed and cheered as our team walked off the field. Our band still went out on the field and played their post game and marched out of the stadium as proud as they could be. And our team still acknoweldged that our fans had stayed with them through the whole game, and supported them for the whole game and appreciated that we never gave up on them. It is these things that makes Notre Dame, Notre Dame. Yes USC won, and USC is #1 in footbal, and USC will get to go to the national championship, but I will take a Notre Dame team with more class, more respect, and more heart over the USC national champions any day. USC proved again that they had no class (and I will not list the ways in which they did this, because I would be here all day and never get any homework done,) but suffice it to say USC may have had more points, but that's about all they had more of.

Now that I'm over my bitter ranting, maybe next time I'll be able to say something a little nicer and a littler happier.

USC v. Notre Dame 10/15/05

It has been said by many that this game has become "THE GAME" of the season. It has been said by many that Notre Dame is "THE ONLY" team that can beat USC. It has been said by may that Charlie Weiss has made Brady Quinn into a "HIESMAN CANDIDATE".

And it is now said by me. . . "THE STREAK ENDS IN THE BEND"

GO IRISH BEAT TROJANS!!

Buffa's Prediction: USC 24 Notre Dame 31

WAKE UP THE ECHOS!!!!!

(For those of you who don't know the fight song, I have provided the words so you can sing along with all the Irish fans on Saturday.)

NOTRE DAME VICTORY MARCH
Rally Sons of Notre Dame
Sing her glory and sound her fame
Raise her gold and blue
And cheer her voices true
Rah, Rah for Nortre Dame
Well will fight in every game
Strong of heart and true to her name
We will ne'r forget her
And we'll cheer her ever
Loyal to Notre Dame

Cheer, Cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the Echos Cheering her Name
Send a Volley Cheer on High
Shake down the thunders from the sky
What tho' the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all
While her Loyal Sons are marching
Onward to Victory

And for a little extra something

HIKE NOTRE DAME
Hike, Hike, Hike
The March is Own
No Brain or Brawn
Can stop the charge of fighting men
Loud Rings the Cry (Loud rings the cry)
Of Grim Defy (Of Grim Defy)
A heart attack let loose again

For it's a hike, hike, hike to Victory
The call to raise and strike
For Notre Dame men are winning
When Notre Dame hears hike, hike, hike

Hark to the cheering
songs rising h-i-i--igh
Hark to the roar
as the ranks go marching by
Shoulder to shoulder
chanting her glorious name
Burn high your fires
and sing along for Notre Dame

Attention

It has been brought to my attention that I don't post enough on my blog, so I am going to attempt to amuse everyone and post a little more often. Howe well that will work I don't know, because the gobs of homework have not gotten any better, but maybe it will be a much deserved break for me to post a little comment once in a while. Supposedly I'm supposed to post 20% more, but I'm not sure exactly how to figure out what 20% more is so, sorry dear Michael, you will just have to suffice with whatever more I manage to come up with. So for today I will inform you all of my lovely copyright professor. I would tell you his name, but for fear that he knows how to check the internet I am going to instead refer to him as WonderMan. WonderMan is this little old guy that apparently is the Copyright genius of the century. I Was informed that I Was supposed to take his class because he was very prominent in the copyright field, and that I would learn a lot from him. So I took this advice and enrolled in his class. While he may be brilliant, I have also discovered that he is crazy.
In last weeks class we were discussing the copyrightability of movements, and dance, and he thought that he would inquire as to the copyrightability of yoga. Apparently he is personally acquainted with Yoga, because he informed us that he takes a yoga class. And then he went on to discuss things such as the standing tree, the cat, and the downward dog. And then he thought it might be a good idea to demonstrate for us what exactly he was talking about in the hopes we would have a better idea of the copyrightability. Well I would like to thank whatever deity is residing in the heavens at this point for only allowing him to show us the standing tree, because if he had gotten down on the floor and done the downward dog in front of the class room I might have had a heart attack and died. For more entertaining stories of WonerMan (and perhaps better entertaining stories of Wonderman, because this one was fairly boring) come back at a later date, and I will see what I can do for you. Off to Con Law.
