So it should be glaringly obvious to anyone that I am still going through withdrawal about Saturday's game, which is why it has taken so long for me to even look at my blog which so beautifully illustrated that Jesus was on our side.
However on the brighter side, that was quite possibly the best Notre Dame Game that I have ever seen, and my guess is that it will soon be shown on ESPN classic. (However I do despise it when an ESPN classic game, is one where Notre Dame ends up losing).
Now I don't want to whine, but I do have to say a couple of things about that game. First of all I LOVE CHARLIE WEISS!!!! As Mike Greeney put it, "I think I actually have a crush on him." (so that is not whininig, because I'm obviously giving him a compliment). Anyway I appreciate the fact that he called the game for what it was, yes it was a good game, yes we played well, but we lost. And a loss is still a loss. I appreciate that, because I do believe that in the end, if your game is played well and you lose, you're not going to make a BCS bowl. As those stupid computer rankings prove, it doesn't matter that we played well, we lost and that cost us. But even though we lost, and he pointed that out he still made a point to congratulate our players, and talk to our players and make them see that even he made mistakes (As he admitted about the game). Charlie Weiss is the best coach EVER. I'm totally on the Charlie Weiss bandwagon (of course I've been on that since last January).
Secondly I would like to point out that I was very, very proud of our team, our band, and our fans this weekend. We had one of the most historic wins in history taken away from us in the last seven seconds of the game. Yet our fans still acted in a respectful manner and still stayed and cheered as our team walked off the field. Our band still went out on the field and played their post game and marched out of the stadium as proud as they could be. And our team still acknoweldged that our fans had stayed with them through the whole game, and supported them for the whole game and appreciated that we never gave up on them. It is these things that makes Notre Dame, Notre Dame. Yes USC won, and USC is #1 in footbal, and USC will get to go to the national championship, but I will take a Notre Dame team with more class, more respect, and more heart over the USC national champions any day. USC proved again that they had no class (and I will not list the ways in which they did this, because I would be here all day and never get any homework done,) but suffice it to say USC may have had more points, but that's about all they had more of.
Now that I'm over my bitter ranting, maybe next time I'll be able to say something a little nicer and a littler happier.
Go Irish Beat Cougars!!!
