And A Very Guinness New Year To You

So we went to Ireland this year, (Or last year at this point). We of course made our way to the Guinness Storehouse. When you're there they have a lovely tour that takes you through the process of making Guinness, if you're interested. Not that I wasn't interested, actually I thought I was interested, until we got to the tasting room where you get to taste a small bit of Guinness and I experienced something that I've been missing for many years, Guinness. I think we saw some other things after that, perhaps some old marketing materials an maybe even the test of the brewing process but I was anticipating the free Guinness that is part of your ticket.

You head up to Gravity Bar and you get to se your ticket to redeem your free Guinness. While sipping the dark goddess brew you get to look across the entire city of Dublin. But I digress. The point of this was to tell you my inspiration for New Year's dinner which was the little Guinness recipe cards they have hanging out around the Storehouse. Our Very Guinness New Year consisted of Guinness Stew, Guinness Mussels, Guinness Truffles, Guinness Mousse, and of course Guinness. It was very Guinness and very Happy which I wish to everyone. Perhaps I'll share some recipes happily converted out of Metric of course.

The Reluctant Blogger

I want to blog, I really do. I often compose these spectacular posts entirely in my head, but somehow they never make their way to paper, or screen rather. So then I try and come up with something that will inspire me to actually blog. Maybe I'll take a picture a day of the Buffason Babies and post it, or perhaps a recipe a day - well now that's completely unrealistic, how about a recipe a week. Or maybe I'll try a new project a week, or a new book a month, but nothing really seems to pan out, or maybe I just haven't found an inspiration yet. Or maybe,I ponder, blogging is just a bunch of people who really believe that someone else needs to hear their thoughts, which instantly irritates me. But then I think, I like other people's thoughts. Meg Schadal's blog makes me laugh continuously, and I love the dresses from Marisa Lynch, but I'm not sure I can live up to any of these standards. Or maybe that's not the point, I don't have to live up to standards, I just have to blog because sometimes you need to tell someone what you're thinking, even if no one is listening, or reading as the case may be. So here we are on my umpteenth attempt to blog, a post a day, about something. Something big, something small, something that inspires, me or perhaps something that leaves me one oil change short of a break down. Happy Reading.
